What is Spiritual Direction?
It's practical theology , a kind of meat & potato approach that asks the question: "Where is God in your life experience?"  It's a centuries-old ministry that is making a comeback and filling the void that preachy sermons and ambitious church programming miss.  Spiritual direction facilitates your  journey toward self-discorvery, transformation and healing through compassionate listening. It focuses on the true meaning of discipleship as a transformational process and deepens your spiritual life by providing an opportunity for you to reflect with another about your life experiences and find significance and meaning within those experiences. A S piritual Director acts as a mirror-holder by listening objectively to what is happening both outwardly and inwardly in your life and reflecting back to you any links she/he perceives between the pieces presented. This kind of one-on-one engagement provides you with the opportunity to step back and take a look at God's inititiatives for yourself, therefore, empowering you to make healthy choices for yourself and your life.

Difference between Spiritual Direction and Therapy?
Therapy relies on the relationship between the client and the therapist.  Spiritual Direction focuses on the relationship and energy flow between God and the directee.  Both adhere to standards of professional boundaries, ethical conduct and strict confidentiality.  Spiritual Directors usually abide by on-going, regular supervision

What topics are discussed?
There is no agenda, only the life experience you choose to focus upon or bring forth. Spiritual direction encompasses all areas of life, including: relationships, transitions, stress, uncertainty, personal development, questions of faith, images of God, grief and joy.

What is the cost?
Sessions are $65 per one hour session. No one will be turned away if unable to pay the full amount. Please pay what you can afford.

How Often?
Traditionally, sessions are scheduled on a monthly basis.  Spiritual direction is a relationship, therefore, it can go on for years or be limited to just a few sessions.  It is up to both the directee and director to evaluate the relationship's effectiveness, therefore, continue or discontinue sessions at any time.  It is also possible to discontinue the relationship for an extended amount of time and begin again at a later date.

Private, confidential sessions are held in both Minneapolis and St. Paul locations.
